A Rapid Intervention Team is a specialized team of firefighters who operate at a fire scene with only one purpose... TO SAVE FELLOW FIREFIGHTERS. A RIT is a specialized field and operating a RIT is not for every fire organization, using one is. Just like every fire organization cannot perform vehicle rescue, river rescue, confined space rescue, and other specialized rescues. ABBETRIT was formed not only for those that provide this valuable service but also for those who use these services. This organization will show you what you should expect from your RIT and will let you know what questions to ask when picking a RIT. We are continuously trying new techniques and methods and developing new procedures from real life experiences. We also want to supply all the information that we come across and use to anyone who wants to try, use, or improve it. All the information contained on this sight works for us and can work for you. Some may need to be modified slightly to fit into your operation but remember nothing is 100% right for everyone. We are always open to suggestions for improvement. Please look over the information we have put together and let us know what you think replies encouraged are welcome. We want to hear your opinion weather it be good, bad, or indifferent. Thanks for stopping by and hope you are able to learn something from us or able to teach us something. This sight will be updated as we get new information so stop back often.
