Our accomplishments
ABBET-RIT in action - Over the weekend of April 23, 24, and 25 members from various departments belonging to the ABBET-RIT organization headed north to present various techniques of rapid intervention as well as Accountability and R.I.T.C. classes to our brothers in the President Twp. Area. There was much worthwhile information exchanged over the weekend, and experiences like this just helped to solidify what the ABBET-RIT organization stands for. We thank our brothers from the north, and look forward to seeing you all soon.
We have united over 20 fire organizations, and trained over 120 firefighters.
We introduced a helmet sticker system that lets a staging officer, team leader, or IC know what qualifications a firefighter has by sight.
We have standardized the RIT teams color for identification to orange. All RIT members in this area when working in RIT mode wear an orange nomex® hood.
Our staging area tarp is orange to let people know that the tools on that tarp are for RIT only!
We schedule quarterly trainings for all fire organizations involved in RIT to get use to working with each other, practice techniques both new and previously use, and to refine our operations.
Fire Emergency Television Network profiled us. Our members covered how we operate across municipal and county lines, and our helmet decals as well as performing the "Pittsburgh Drill" for the cameras. Watch for us on FETN.
We have torn down the Municipal, County, State, and Country lines and united firefighters by sharing information.
